Israeli Officials Express Confidence in Trump’s Gaza Peace Framework Amid Ongoing Tensions

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is optimistic about President Donald Trump’s commitment to the Gaza peace agreement. This assurance comes from Caroline Glick, the prime minister’s advisor on international affairs, who spoke with Fox News Digital about their high hopes for the framework proposed by Trump.

Glick elaborated, stating, “We have deep faith in President Trump — in his sincerity, his support for Israel, and his leadership. Our confidence lies in his ability to ensure that all parties are held accountable to the deal, in collaboration with Prime Minister Netanyahu.” This sentiment emphasizes a strong partnership as they work towards peace in the region.

Phased Approach to Dismantling Hamas

A critical aspect of Trump’s plan involves dismantling Hamas to prevent any future threats to Israel. Glick mentioned the significance of Phase Two of the framework, which outlines plans for Hamas’ demobilization and subsequent efforts to deradicalize Gaza’s population.

She noted, “As both President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu have indicated, this can be achieved the easy way — through peaceful compliance with the agreement — or the hard way, which would necessitate further military operations in Gaza.” This underscores the urgency of diplomatic engagement as a preferred alternative to military intervention.

International Stabilization Force’s Role

The International Stabilization Force (ISF) is expected to play a crucial role in managing security in Gaza. According to Glick, the ISF will work alongside the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) rather than in opposition. This collaboration will occur under the supervision of the Board of Peace, chaired by President Trump.

Glick outlined that Gaza would fall under a temporary technocratic administration led by a non-political Palestinian committee responsible for governance and public services. This committee will consist of qualified Palestinians and international experts and will operate under the guidance of the Board of Peace.

Overarching Goals of Reconstruction and Reform

The Board of Peace’s mission is to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and funding, ensuring that the Palestinian Authority can eventually govern effectively. This aligns with Trump’s 2020 peace plan and proposals from Saudi Arabia and France.

Brig. Gen. (res.) Amir Avivi, founder of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum, provided insights into the current security situation. He stated that Israeli forces had controlled approximately 80% of the Gaza Strip, a move he believes pressured Hamas into agreeing to the ceasefire.

Avivi emphasized, “The withdrawal enables Israel to maintain control over 53% of the Gaza Strip, including the Philadelphi Corridor and several key urban areas. This strategic positioning allows the IDF to protect Israeli communities effectively.”

Challenges in Humanitarian Aid Delivery

The complexity of military and humanitarian operations continues to pose challenges. Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, head of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, voiced concerns about the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He highlighted the importance of stringent checks on aid shipments to ensure they do not facilitate weapons smuggling.

Kuperwasser stated, “We must be strict in checking every humanitarian shipment to prevent any misuse for weapon smuggling operations. The aid deliveries must match the commitments from the Jan. 19, 2025, agreement, focusing on critical infrastructure repairs.
