The Democratic governor took aim at the Trump administration’s decision to deploy federal agents in Chicago over the weekend, a move he characterized as an intimidation tactic.
Governor’s Remarks on ICE Activism
Pritzker voiced his condemnation of federal actions, stating that federal officials falsely claimed they were targeting serious criminals. He highlighted the inconsistency of their narrative, pointing out that 60 percent of individuals taken into custody by ICE in Illinois so far this year lacked any criminal convictions. This statistic raises concerns about the legitimacy of the operations conducted by ICE in the state.
