Jennifer Lawrence Shares Near-Death Experience During Private Flight

Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up about a terrifying experience she faced in 2017 while on a private flight from Louisville, Kentucky to New York City. The harrowing incident involved a complete engine failure that left both Lawrence and the flight crew fearing for their lives.

Moments of Terror in the Sky

During her appearance on the popular podcast Las Culturistas, Lawrence recounted how the situation escalated quickly when the plane’s engines began to fail. “One engine went out, and then we were making an emergency landing because we only had one engine,” she shared. She was accompanied by a family friend who initially tried to keep her spirits up during the crisis.

“He was being really strong, like he was my guy. And then he was trying to make me laugh and said, ‘You know that everything’s okay, because you can still hear the other engine,’” Lawrence recalled. However, their brief moments of levity were shattered when the reality of the situation set in.

Facing Mortality

As anxiety filled the cockpit, Lawrence and her friend recognized the severity of their predicament. “He knew that we were gonna die,” she stated. “I mean the pilots knew we were going to die.” The lights in the cockpit indicated an emergency, with alarms blaring and the pilots visibly shaken. “Like the pilots were crying,” she detailed, painting a vivid picture of the chaotic atmosphere onboard.

Lawrence also expressed concern for her small dog, Pippi, who was on her lap at the time. “I just felt so bad for her because she didn’t agree to this,” she reflected, making the situation even more poignant.

A Race Against Time

As the flight continued to descend, Lawrence described trying to leave messages for her loved ones, bracing for what seemed to be inevitable. “I had such a nice life, don’t worry about it. Don’t mention this, this and this in your speech,” she recalled, attempting to come to terms with her fate.

The pilots diverted the plane towards Buffalo in hopes of a safe emergency landing.
