Jessie James Decker and Eric Decker Reveal Secrets Behind Their 12-Year Marriage

Jessie James Decker and her husband Eric Decker attribute the longevity of their relationship to a shared value system. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the couple discussed their experience filming the new season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test and how the rigorous challenges strengthened their marriage.

Jessie fondly recalled a moment during their filming, stating, “I think that experience, when it was all said and done, we had one of the best dates and nights of our entire marriage. We had a layover in London where we went to dinner, and then we just relaxed in bed, looking at each other. It was a beautiful night.”

She expressed gratitude for overcoming challenges together, saying, “We went through something really hard together, and it really does bring you closer.”

The Foundation of Their Relationship

The Deckers have now spent nearly 15 years together, with over 12 years of marriage. They have four children: Vivianne, 11, Eric ‘Bubby,’ 10, Forrest, 7, and Denver, 1. When asked about the key to their successful marriage, both Eric and Jessie humorously mentioned their life in Nashville before Eric pointed to their shared values.

“I think, obviously, we’re rooted in our value system where we have four kids,” Eric explained. “We truly love the community we raise our children in. We prioritize spending time at home and being with our family. That grounds us.”

Jessie concurred, adding, “I think we just view the world the same way.”

Jessie highlighted the importance of a strong foundation, stating that aligning on life perspectives is essential. “I think you need that foundation of being on the same page, you know? The way you choose to raise your children, how you handle finances, everything matters.”

Challenges of Special Forces

The couple currently appears on season three of the FOX series, which they describe as a demanding yet enriching experience filled with life lessons. Jessie explained that even while facing numerous challenges, simply being together provided essential support. “Even though we were separated during many of the challenges, we had a way to communicate with each other, an unspoken language where we could send signals of support,” she said.

Eric noted how exciting it was to witness Jessie’s resilience throughout the show. “I think I saw a lot of grit and tenacity come out of her. This is an environment we had never put ourselves in,” he stated. “So witnessing her thrive in that experience was truly special.”

He added, “As we dealt with the team activities, a glance or a quick tap on the back was all we needed to remind ourselves that we were in this together. Even in tough situations, knowing my partner is there makes everything manageable.”

Jessie shared that she felt grateful for the moments of separation during challenges. “I never wanted him to feel like he had to look out for me or worry about me, but seeing him at night in our bunks and being able to reconnect felt comforting,” she expressed.

Reflections on Appreciation

After their time on the show, both Jessie and Eric gained a deeper respect for the military. Jessie has always admired the sacrifices made by military personnel. However, after participating in the challenges, her appreciation intensified. “Seeing what these men and women have done for our country makes one realize that no complaints should ever exist,” she reflected.

Eric shared similar sentiments, stating, “The sacrifices they make, living in harsh conditions, gives you perspective. Little daily annoyances seem trivial compared to what they endure for our freedom.”

Encouraging Family Values Through Entertainment

This season of Special Forces also features other notable personalities, such as Kody Brown from Sister Wives and Teresa and Gia Giudice from Real Housewives of New Jersey. The blend of these diverse backgrounds adds flavor to the show while illustrating the various ways people react to extreme situations.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test premiered on September 25 on FOX and continues to showcase the participants’ growth through each arduous challenge. As audiences tune in, they witness not only physical endurance but also personal exploration and development as individuals and as couples.
