NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After enduring two years behind bars, Julie Chrisley has returned home, where she is now focusing her energy on what matters most: family. The reality TV star and her husband, Todd Chrisley, are eager to turn the page on this tumultuous chapter.
The couple’s attorney, Alex Little, provided an update on Julie’s well-being since her release from prison on Wednesday. Speaking with Fox News Digital, he shared insights into her emotional state and family reunion.
“I saw Julie yesterday, and I think she’s doing well,” Little said. “You have to remember this is a family that has been separated for more than two years.”
Julie and Todd’s release from federal prison follows a presidential pardon by Donald Trump on Wednesday. The stars of the show “Chrisley Knows Best” faced serious charges including bank fraud and tax evasion, leading to their sentences in prison.
Little elaborated on their joyful reunion, emphasizing the importance of family time for both Julie and Todd. He explained, “A huge part of being home is just getting family time and being together. That’s what she wanted to focus on today.”
Although their reunion is filled with joy, Little acknowledged the difficulties connected with reuniting after a long separation. “I think it’s hard,” he pointed out. “It’s not as if you can sort of pick up immediately, but they’ve always stayed in contact.”
Despite not being able to speak on the phone while incarcerated, Todd and Julie managed to connect via daily emails, a routine that helped them maintain their bond during their time apart. “They’re doing that standard repair you do when you get back and are in the same place,” said Little.
Julie has been noticeably absent from public engagements since her release, including a recent family press conference. This event marked the first time Todd spoke to the media since 2022. Their daughter Savannah also participated in the Nashville press conference.
During the event, Todd described Julie’s resilience throughout her prison experience and expressed his joy over their family’s reunion. “Julie, who is a wonderful, decent, God-fearing woman — I am blessed to have been married to her for over 30 years — is an excellent mother,” he shared. “She’s at home with her adopted daughter Chloe right now, and Chloe will not let her go.”
Sweet Chloe is Todd’s estranged son Kyle’s biological daughter. The Chrisleys adopted Chloe after Kyle faced substance abuse issues, which led to them gaining full custody of her.
Todd also revealed that faith, family, and fitness were integral during his time in prison. He credited communication with his children—Savannah, Chase, and Grayson—as a lifeline, stating, “I talked to my daughter every day. I was able to email with Julie every day. So I think for me, I haven’t had the same effects that so many people leaving the prison system have had.”
As Julie takes steps back into her role within the family, she was spotted leaving a butcher shop in Nashville just one day after her release, embodying a spirit of normalcy and routine. Her smile and her natural hair color were evident as she embraced the fresh start.
Chase, her son, commented on his mother’s new look, noting that she may decide to keep her hair darker. “My mother’s an angel. She’s still a beautiful woman,” he said while playfully suggesting, “Mama, we gotta go back platinum blonde.” To which Julie responded, “I’m not doing that.”
Originally, Todd and Julie faced sentences of 12 years and 7 years, respectively. They were convicted of conspiring to defraud community banks for over $30 million in fraudulent loans and were also charged with tax evasion. Their sentences were later reduced following the pardon.
Both were indicted in August 2019, with a subsequent indictment file leading to a guilty verdict in June 2022 for multiple financial crimes, including conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Their release marks a significant turn in their legal battle, allowing them to focus on family and a renewed sense of purpose.
As Julie Chrisley prioritizes family reunifications and re-establishing her presence at home, the couple prepares for a fresh start. With love and family support as their foundation, they are poised to rebuild their lives.
