Kai, set to join the University of Miami’s golf team in 2026, recently spoke with Fox News Digital about the impact of sports on her relationship with her grandfather.
Bonding Through the Sport
In their conversation, Kai emphasized the closeness she shares with her grandfather, attributing much of it to their mutual interest in golf. She remarked, “Me and him are very close, and we bond over golf. So, he influenced me a lot with golf, especially when I was talking about schools and colleges.” Her excitement was palpable when she mentioned her NIL partnership with Accelerator Active Energy. She shared, “He loved that I was going to Miami because Trump Doral was right there as well, so he’s influenced me a lot with golf.”
Throughout the years, Donald Trump has enjoyed quality time with Kai on the golf course as she has honed her skills, preparing for competition at the Division I level. Even before entering the political arena, the former president had established 15 golf courses under Trump Golf, 11 of which are located in the United States. Kai has benefited from playing on these prestigious courses, recognizing that not all aspiring golfers have the same access to top-tier learning environments.
Gratitude for Opportunities
Kai expressed her gratitude for the resources available to her, stating, “I was very, very lucky, and I’m obviously very thankful for all the resources I had. Obviously, I used those resources to develop into a great golfer now. But I’m very lucky because not many people have those opportunities growing up.”
A Broader Passion for Sports
While golf is a focal point of their relationship, Donald Trump’s love for sports spans a wide range. For instance, he often attends UFC events, and in March, Kai joined her grandfather for UFC 314 in Miami. She vividly recalled the experience, saying, “I don’t think I ever heard such a loud arena in my entire life. But it was really cool to see everyone supporting him, especially in Miami. It was really nice. And when I was driving there, I stopped by my school just to see the campus and what not. It was really cool.”
Although she doesn’t share her grandfather’s enthusiasm for football, Kai and Donald find common ground in other sports as well. She revealed, “We have watched a lot of tennis together. I love tennis. I grew up actually playing tennis when I was 2 years old, just like golf. So, I started with tennis and golf. We enjoy watching that together, especially like Wimbledon. I know it was yesterday, but we enjoy doing that together.”
A New Venture with Accelerator Active Energy
As a college athlete in today’s NCAA landscape, Kai Trump is capitalizing on the ability to monetize her brand. She has garnered a following through her social media presence and content creation efforts.
Kai recently secured an NIL partnership with Accelerator Active Energy, becoming the brand’s first golf NIL partner and also an equity partner. Accelerator Active Energy is notably recognized for launching “The Livvy Fund” alongside former college gymnastics star Livvy Dunne, aimed at supporting female athletes in higher education. Dunne and Kansas City Chiefs standout Travis Kelce also hold equity positions in the brand.
To announce her new role, Kai shared a presidential-themed video, addressing fellow Americans and content creators. She expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s pretty cool, especially being partners with such great athletes and being up there to with him.”
