Kansas City Chiefs’ Creed Humphrey Stays Calm Amid Playoff Challenges

As the final whistle sounded in Denver on Sunday, the Broncos celebrated their ninth victory of the season. In contrast, the Kansas City Chiefs faced disappointment with a 5-5 record, a situation that surprised many as they were expected to dominate in the 2025 regular season.

With seven games left on the schedule, discussions about panic levels have emerged in sports talk shows. Yet, Chiefs veteran center Creed Humphrey emphasizes that the team is not giving in to panic.

Despite not currently leading the AFC West or holding a playoff spot, Humphrey remains unwavering in his belief in his teammates. He stated, ‘For us, we have all the pieces. It’s just about executing.’ His focus is on improving performance rather than succumbing to external pressures.

Humphrey noted, ‘If we do that, we’re going to like the results. We need to make sure we’re coming in every day, taking it one meeting at a time, one practice at a time, and just focusing on the details.’

After suffering a loss to a division rival, the Chiefs expressed self-criticism, especially quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who discussed his role in the defeat with humility. This attitude reflects the accountability and frustration that team leaders like Mahomes often display during difficult times.

While the Chiefs have experienced significant success, Humphrey acknowledges that adversity is integral to winning Super Bowl titles. He believes that self-reflection and constructive criticism should not indicate a loss of faith in their ultimate goal.

He explained, ‘You got to be your hardest critic. You have to look yourself in the mirror and see what’s going on. Everybody’s doing that right now, so for us, you’re not gonna put the blame on other people.’ Emphasizing individual responsibility, he added, ‘It’s, ‘What can I do better in the moment? What can I do better throughout the game to help this team win?’ This collective ownership is crucial to the team’s mindset.

It’s also noteworthy that the Chiefs’ five losses this season have all been by seven points or fewer, highlighting the slim margins in professional football. Most notably, three losses were decided by just a field goal. Humphrey understands that even one mistake can alter the outcome of a game significantly.

The Chiefs’ organization is rooted in a culture of excellence with a clear understanding of what it takes to succeed in the NFL. Therefore, Humphrey insists there is no reason for panic; rather, players must maintain their essence and play with confidence.

He stated, ‘It’s important not to lose our personalities. If everybody starts being uptight, things aren’t going to go as well. It’s about executing and doing it with swagger.’ This approach stems from an appreciation for the sport and a desire to enjoy the game they have loved since childhood.

‘Just like last year, we got a lot of resilient players. A lot of guys who can do what’s right in the right moments,’ he added, looking forward with optimism.

All eyes will be on the Chiefs as they prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts, a surprising team with an impressive 8-2 record coming off their bye week. The Chiefs find themselves in a pivotal point of the season, facing mounting pressure in a tightly contested AFC playoff race. However, Humphrey asserts that they are familiar with this environment.

‘We’re right there, it’s close, we can feel it,’ he said. ‘It’s taking it one day at a time, one meeting at a time, one practice rep at a time, one walk-through rep at a time. It’s about living in the present — not living in the past, not looking into the future. Just focusing on what’s in front of you and what your goal is for the week.’

Exciting Promotions Keep Spirits High

As Humphrey navigates the last stretch of the regular season and aims for a playoff bid, he is also enjoying a current promotion with Dairy Queen. The Touchdown Celly Deal, active until November 23, offers customers $3 off on the popular Sauced & Tossed Chicken Strip Baskets, which Humphrey himself favors.

‘The sweet chili Sauced & Tossed Chicken Basket offers great flavor and crunch. The sides are amazing, too, but I always get a Blizzard when I’m there. The cookie dough Blizzard is my go-to,’ he shared.

While enjoying tasty treats, Humphrey hopes to showcase more touchdown celebrations as the Chiefs strive for another chance at the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
