In my formative years, the focus largely remained at the local level, with Washington, D.C. appearing as a distant entity. Today, however, national news overshadows local stories, casting our nation’s capital as the epicenter of our concerns.

This significant shift raises critical questions, particularly regarding the dangers of placing excessive dependency on federal governance. At present, the actions occurring in Washington under the Trump administration undoubtedly influence lives across the nation. Yet, let us not forget that the most pressing challenges we face often stem from our local communities.

My concern is that an overwhelming concentration on D.C. may impede local activism and participation among citizens. If this trend continues, the potential of the Trump presidency may sadly transform into a missed opportunity.
