Louisiana Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against Roblox for Allegedly Failing to Protect Children

EXCLUSIVE TO FOX: Louisiana’s Attorney General has taken significant legal action against Roblox, claiming that the popular online gaming platform is being misused by child predators and exposing children to unsafe content.

Attorney General Liz Murrill announced the lawsuit on Thursday, stating that Roblox, which boasts over 80 million users, focuses more on profitability than on implementing essential safety measures to safeguard its young audience.

Attorney General Murrill emphasized the severity of the situation in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. She remarked, “Roblox’s lack of safety protocols endangers the children of Louisiana. This platform is inundated with harmful content and child predators due to its prioritization of user growth and profits over child safety.”

The lawsuit was filed in the Livingston Parish district court and refers to a case in which local law enforcement executed a search warrant last month at a residence in Livingston. The authorities conducted the search on the property of a man suspected of possessing materials related to child sex abuse.

During the arrest, officials discovered that the individual had been actively using Roblox and possessed voice-altering technology to impersonate a young girl. Such alarming behavior raises serious concerns about the platform’s ability to protect its users.

Roblox has previously faced multiple lawsuits from families. Notably, a Georgia mother recently filed a suit after alleging that her nine-year-old son was sexually exploited while using the platform.

In the latest legal action, Louisiana’s Attorney General has particularly highlighted Roblox’s user registration process, claiming that the company fails to adequately verify the ages of its users. This oversight reportedly allows child predators to easily create accounts and pose as children.

“The result of these failures is that the defendant, by not implementing sufficient safety features and failing to warn users about potential dangers, offers an ideal environment for pedophiles,” Murrill stated.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Roblox has yet to respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital regarding the allegations. The company is now under increasing scrutiny, as concerns grow about how effectively it can protect its vulnerable user base.
