Massachusetts Father Allegedly Flees After Mother’s Tragic Murder, Leaving Children Behind

EXCLUSIVE DETAILS: Aaron Pennington, a Massachusetts father of four, reportedly locked eyes with his 9-year-old daughter moments before fleeing from the home where he is accused of murdering her mother. This dramatic incident left the young children alone with their deceased parent, according to statements made by the victim’s aunt, Brenda Hull.

Hull, who raised Breanne “Breezy” Pennington, revealed her belief that Aaron Pennington remains at large nearly two years after the horrific incident occurred on October 22, 2023. She vividly recounted the moment when he looked into his daughter’s eyes while driving away, knowingly leaving her responsible for her siblings, aged 2, 5, and 7 at the time.

“He looked his daughter in her eyes as he drove off, knowing he was leaving her responsible for four children with a dead mother,” Hull said, highlighting the emotional turmoil resulting from such a traumatic experience.

The Murder and Its Aftermath

On that fateful day, Aaron Pennington is accused of shooting his 30-year-old wife three times in the back of the head while she slept. Following the alleged crime, he reportedly barricaded the bedroom door with a dresser and then escaped through a window. Before leaving the scene, he allegedly cast a “death glare” at his oldest daughter, solidifying the disturbing nature of his departure.

While the children had been eagerly awaiting a church outing, tragedy struck. Hull said, “He waited till she was asleep and helpless. He snuck up behind her and planted three bullets in the back of her head.” Their father’s actions left an indelible mark on the lives of these young children.

The Search for the Suspect

State police quickly located Pennington’s white BMW just a day after the murder. The vehicle was found parked at Camp Collier, a nearby Boy Scouts campground. Despite extensive efforts, including aerial surveillance and canine units, authorities did not locate Pennington during a weeks-long manhunt.

After the alleged murder, the children sought help from a neighbor. Friends from their church arrived and, upon entering the home, discovered Breezy’s lifeless body. Reports indicated that the children might have heard their mother’s cries prior to seeking assistance. However, Hull disputed this claim, asserting that the nature of Breezy’s injuries made such sounds improbable. She believes the children actually heard their father’s departure.

Weapon and Motive

According to Hull, the suspected weapon is a Walther pistol given to Breezy by her grandfather. Just before the murder, Pennington expressed anxiety, reportedly searching for something throughout the house. “I believe it was the gun,” Hull speculated.

Further complicating the narrative, Hull discussed Aaron Pennington’s history of mental health issues. Although she acknowledged records of suicidal thoughts found on his phone, she raised questions about their authenticity. “I have five years of journals that he wrote in every day. There is no mention of suicide or depression in his journals. And I mean, zero,” she emphasized.

A Troubled Relationship and Possible Escape Plans

The Pennington couple’s relationship had reportedly soured, with tensions escalating just before the tragic event. Hull noted that this occurred shortly after Pennington returned from a visit to his parents in California. She claimed he borrowed an undisclosed amount of cash from his father and hinted at a desire to escape, telling a friend he was “10 steps ahead of everyone.”

This raised alarm for Hull, who stated, “There’s no planning in a murder-suicide, right? It’s usually like somebody snaps. The only reason you need to be 10 steps ahead is because you’re gonna run.” She insinuated that Pennington’s premeditated actions evidenced his intention to evade capture.

Ongoing Search and Community Outreach

Friends of the victim and local police remain actively involved in the search for Aaron Pennington. Authorities have requested that hunters, hikers, and trail camera users near Camp Collier stay vigilant. Pennington, who is now considered armed and dangerous, fits the description of a White male, approximately 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Hull has appealed directly to Pennington, urging him to surrender for the sake of their children. “I want him to know that his children are asking about him, that they love him, that they have good memories of him, and they want to see him,” she stated poignantly.

A Call for Justice

As the investigation continues, Hull expresses her deep concern for the emotional well-being of the children left behind. The trauma they have suffered due to the actions of their father and the loss of their mother cannot be understated. With ongoing police efforts and community support, there remains hope that justice will prevail.

State police declined to provide specific updates on the ongoing search but remain committed to locating Aaron Pennington. They encourage anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the authorities. This case serves as a somber reminder of the far-reaching impacts of domestic violence on families.

Anyone who has seen Aaron Pennington is urged to call 911. Tips can also be directed to state police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
