Massachusetts Law Enforcement Apprehends Six Women Tied to Multi-State Burglary Ring

Six women from Maryland were arrested in Massachusetts on charges related to breaking and entering, as authorities allege they are affiliated with a multi-state organized crime group.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 42, face serious allegations including conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, and resisting arrest, as reported by the Norwood Police Department.

Detectives Respond to Break-In Reports

Norwood Police responded to a call regarding a break-in at a residence near Neponset Street on Friday afternoon. Upon arriving, officers learned that the homeowners returned to find several women inside their home. After confronting the intruders, the women quickly fled in a vehicle, prompting an immediate police response.

Later that day, an officer spotted a vehicle resembling the suspects’ car, leading to a brief chase. The six women exited their vehicle and fled on foot into a nearby wooded area. One suspect was apprehended by the police during this initial pursuit.

Following the chase, an officer located other suspects hiding behind a building. As the officer approached, the women attempted to run away again but were eventually caught and taken into custody.

Coordinated Efforts Lead to Multiple Arrests

Additional police resources contributed to the apprehension of two more suspects as they attempted to cross a river. A final suspect was captured shortly thereafter, bringing the total number of arrests to six, as confirmed by Norwood Police Chief Padden.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of on-duty officers, specialized units, and mutual aid partners, all six suspects involved in the break-in were taken into custody,” Padden stated.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations unit joined forces with Norwood Police to verify the identities of the suspects. The women were identified as Mirabela Caldarau, 42, Jajela Chiciu, 41, Flavia Caldararu, 22, Emilia Sardaru, 36, Mihaela Ion, 33, and Elizabeth Sardaru, 21.

Connections to Other Criminal Activities Uncovered

Authorities established that the women are related and discovered that several of them had outstanding warrants from other states for similar offenses, as noted by police.

On Monday, the six arrested women were brought to court for their arraignment. Following the proceedings, three of the women were released on bail but were taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Interestingly, two men who arrived to post bail for the women were also detained by ICE.

“A preliminary investigation indicates the suspects are allegedly part of an organized group engaged in similar criminal activity across multiple states,” the Norwood Police Department explained. “All are related, including the two males who arrived to post bail.”

Ongoing Investigations and Future Implications

The investigation remains active, and Norwood Police are collaborating closely with other jurisdictions. The incidents highlight the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with organized crime that spans multiple states.

As details continue to emerge, authorities are gathering evidence to further understand the scale of the criminal activities linked to this group.

While the immediate threat posed by these individuals has been mitigated, the bigger picture involving their alleged network remains a focus for law enforcement agencies.

The Norwood Police Department and ICE have yet to respond to requests for further comments regarding this ongoing investigation.
