“It depends on what you do when you get fired,” Riddle explained. “It’s always unfortunate when people lose their jobs, but at the end of the day, for some of us, say for me, for example, it was a blessing. Sometimes, you just need the right push. Sometimes you need somebody to shut a door on you so another can open. And that’s not just true in pro wrestling; it applies to any profession.”
Reflecting on his journey, Riddle noted that moments which initially seemed dire can lead to unforeseen opportunities. He pointed out his own challenges after being let go from UFC, saying, “Trust me, it might seem like it’s over, or it sucks, but when one door shuts, another opens. Even when I got fired from UFC back in the day, I went on to have a successful career in professional wrestling. I got fired over a year or so ago, but since then I have held eight different championships and recaptured the MLW Heavyweight Championship, which was the one title I had always wanted.”
Riddle’s successful return to MLW has been marked by significant victories. He made a notable comeback at the Kings of Colosseum event in early 2024, winning Battle Riot VI and subsequently defeating Satoshi Kojima for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in January.
Throughout the year, he has defended his title impressively, not only against Kojima but also in a thrilling triple-threat match against Alex Kane. In a display of his fighting spirit, Riddle triumphed against 39 competitors in Battle Riot VII, further solidifying his status in the wrestling world.
