The study, conducted by a commercial restaurant furniture manufacturer, analyzed regional average monthly internet searches to determine which fast food chains Americans are most curious about. Over the past year, McDonald’s generated an astounding 14.8 million searches every month, highlighting its popularity across the country.

The data reveals that McDonald’s dominated search interest in 22 states, making it the most sought-after fast food option. Specifically, states such as Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, and Wisconsin turned to McDonald’s more than any other fast food restaurant.
While McDonald’s led the search charts, other chains also performed well. Pizza establishments were notably popular, with Domino’s securing the second spot in search interest. Monthly search figures for Domino’s averaged over 11.6 million, showcasing its strong presence in the fast food realm.

Interestingly, Starbucks, typically not classified as a fast food chain, emerged as the fourth-most-searched establishment. Starbucks enjoyed over 10.6 million monthly searches, particularly popular in states like California, New York, and Washington, where the coffee chain originated.
Despite not being the traditional fast food outlet, Starbucks’s inclusion in the top ranks highlights a shift in consumer preferences regarding quick-service options.
Some chains, such as Chipotle, Little Caesars, and Taco Bell, displayed regional popularity. Chipotle ranked as the third-most searched fast food option in Ohio, while in Michigan, Little Caesars occupied the second position, with Taco Bell trailing closely behind. Additionally, Taco Bell performed respectably in Alaska, ranking third in searches, illustrating varying regional appetites for fast food.
