Meghan Trainor has stepped into a new role, showcasing her talents beyond music. The 31-year-old pop star recently starred in her inaugural commercial for State Farm alongside standout NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the experience has left her overjoyed.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Trainor expressed her disbelief at the opportunity presented to her. She recalled the moment State Farm approached her, saying, “They told me you got an offer to be in a State Farm commercial, and I was like you’re lying, you’re lying to me. Then I was like, how could that possibly make sense?” Trainor noted that once she learned Mahomes would be starring alongside her, her initial confusion transformed into excitement. She described the script as “brilliant and perfect.”
Having a background in football thanks to her brothers, Trainor described working with Mahomes as both an “absolute blessing and a miracle.” She humorously noted that her siblings were more enthusiastic about this collaboration than any of her previous career achievements.
Before meeting Mahomes, she had her reservations. She admitted to feeling nervous as her brothers warned her, saying she was “walking into a room with superstars.” However, she was pleasantly surprised to find him to be “really sweet,” calming her anxieties.
Trainor’s excitement grew as she recalled being on set. Wearing a bubble dress, she felt out of place but was quickly put at ease by the friendliness of the crew. She shared, “Gosh, everyone was so nice on set. Jay from State Farm was just a delight. Patrick was the most chillest, coolest guy ever. And I was making him giggle all day, and I felt like an absolute star. It was so magical and big and huge. This is the top of commercials. Here we are, we’ve made it.”
Acting has always lingered as a dream for Trainor. She expressed gratitude towards State Farm for considering her for this opportunity. It marks the beginning of her exploration into acting, while her husband, Daryl Sabara, has a long-standing background in the industry.
Daryl Sabara is recognized for his role as Juni Cortez in the beloved “Spy Kids” franchise, but Trainor finds it surprising that he began acting as a baby. Reflecting on their son’s budding interests, she explained, “We always talk about it because my husband was acting as a baby, baby. So even at Riley’s age, he was doing auditions for commercials. How could you do that at such a young age?”
Trainor noted that having a career at a young age requires a unique mindset. The Grammy Award-winning singer mentioned her son Riley’s desire to join her on stage during performances. She shared, “I said, ‘If that’s what you want to do, I will support you. I will let you come out in this song, and we’ll dance and have the best time.'” She believes it’s important to nurture his interests in music, despite the challenges of getting him to dance.
Since they began dating in 2016, Trainor and Sabara’s love has blossomed, culminating in their marriage in December 2018. They are proud parents to Riley, who is four, and Barry, who is two. The couple continues to navigate parenthood as their children’s interests evolve.
While their children have only recently expressed an interest in performing, Trainor cherishes the opportunities to travel with Riley. She remarked on their adventures, saying, “The best is when I get to bring him on a plane and go to Kansas City and do commercials like this, meet people, and travel. I asked him, ‘What makes you happy in life?’ And he said traveling. So, any chance I can, I steal him, and we go away and travel. That has been the biggest reward.”
Despite her flourishing music career and newfound acting opportunities, Trainor acknowledges the challenges of balancing her work with family time. She shared her inner conflict, stating, “I always feel like I’m not there enough and not physically present enough with my family, but I’m working on it.”
Trainor reflected on her upbringing, remembering that her own parents worked long hours. She expressed, “I remember that regular families have their moms gone for work all day long. My mom worked every day, and I rarely saw them. This realization has weighed on me, especially now that my four-year-old is starting school. I’m concerned about barely seeing him.”
Through her exciting yet demanding life, Trainor continues to prioritize her family and is committed to being present for her loved ones. As she steps into new endeavors, her journey symbolizes both personal growth and the importance of family in the entertainment industry.
