Millie Bobby Brown reached a pivotal moment in her life when she and Jake Bongiovi aligned on their values and parenting philosophies. This shared understanding led the young couple to marry, setting the stage for a future filled with family and fulfillment.
In a recent episode of the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” Brown opened up about her relationship with Jon Bon Jovi’s son, Jake Bongiovi. The couple got engaged in April 2023 and married in May 2024, with Brown being just 20 years old at the time.
Reflecting on their journey, Brown shared, “We’ve been together for four years. When we moved in together and began caring for our dogs, I realized, ‘I can’t see myself with anyone else.’ I was certain about wanting this life with him.” This moment of clarity marked a significant turning point in their relationship.
The couple frequently discussed critical topics such as politics and their approach to raising children. Brown revealed that these discussions made her contemplate the possibility of a long-term commitment. She reflected, “Talking about big issues, especially for someone my age, helped me realize that maybe I wanted to spend my life with him. When he proposed, everything just fell into place.”
Both Brown and Bongiovi hail from families that embraced young marriages, which influenced their decision. Brown noted, “We had strong role models growing up. Neither of us viewed young marriage as unusual. Our families shaped our perceptions of relationships, and we didn’t let outside opinions sway us.” This background reassured them as they embarked on their life together.
During her podcast appearance, Brown shared insights into her wedding day. Despite her meticulous planning, she humorously recounted her minor mishap: forgetting to put on her veil just before walking down the aisle. Her commitment to detail manifested in her desire for a flawless day without succumbing to the infamous “bridezilla” persona.
“I was stress-free but organized,” she explained. “I may have been overly aware of everyone else’s timelines, which threw me off just before my moment to walk down the aisle. It was a joyful chaos.” After the ceremony concluded, Brown felt a wave of relief, ready to embrace the joy of the celebration.
Now, over a year into their marriage, the couple has settled into rural life in Georgia. They share a home with a diverse array of animals, including 25 barn animals and numerous dogs. Brown humorously mentioned how her husband drew a line at expanding their farm animal family, saying, “Jake finally had to tell me ‘no more’ when it came to adopting new animals.”
Her choice to settle in Georgia resonated with her desire for a peaceful life away from the chaos of Hollywood, a decision made possible while filming “Stranger Things” in Atlanta. Thus, she purchased a farm across from her parents’ residence, cementing her ties to the area.
During the podcast discussion, the topic of family emerged as a significant theme. Brown expressed a strong desire to have children at a young age, inspired by her own parents who were also young when they started their family. She shared, “My mom had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. This desire to be a mom has always been important to me. It’s a dream I’ve held since before I met Jake.”
Brown emphasized that while she aims to establish her career in acting and producing, becoming a parent remains a priority. She stated, “Jake knows how vital this is for me. I want to focus on my career, but starting a family is equally important in my life plan.”
Interestingly, her husband has specific conditions regarding when they should start their family. Brown recalled, “Jake insisted we need to be married before starting a family. For me, it’s essential to have a big family. We both came from larger households, and our goals are aligned.”
Some observers have noted that Brown’s lifestyle resembles that of a traditional wife, a trend growing in visibility on social media. However, Brown insists she doesn’t wholly identify with this label. “I understand why people might see me as a ‘trad wife’ because I embrace aspects of homesteading. But I also love my acting career and leading an unconventional life in many ways. Jake and I both enjoy living on a farm, which adds to our shared experience,” she explained.
Conversely, while she enjoys cooking for her husband, she is clear about drawing the line at grocery shopping, delegating that task to Bongiovi. This dynamic fosters a sense of partnership in their household, affirming their commitment to sharing responsibilities.
As they look forward, both Brown and Bongiovi remain optimistic about their future together. With plans for a family already in their hearts and minds, they have drawn on the support and examples set by their families. The couple’s commitment to nurturing their relationship while also embarking on the journey of parenthood demonstrates their dedication to a life filled with love, family, and shared values.
