Millie Bobby Brown has found a new sense of home in Atlanta, Georgia, stepping away from the glitz of Hollywood following her impressive stint on the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’.
In an insightful cover story for British Vogue’s December edition, Brown reflected on her transition from a child star to a grounded adult. Having grown up filming ‘Stranger Things’ in Atlanta, she made the decision to establish her permanent roots in the city, where she envisions starting her family.
Brown stated, “I grew up here, you know? This is the longest place I’ve been consecutively in my life because of ‘Stranger Things.’ For me, this is home.” Although originally born in Spain, Brown moved to Florida with her family before achieving her breakout role in the acclaimed series.
Her parents chose to move to Georgia during her filming period, opting for a location away from the Hollywood scene. They were determined to shield their daughter from the intense pressures of the entertainment industry.
Millie reflected on their choices, commenting, “They didn’t want me to grow up in that world. I love what I do but it doesn’t define me. You have a sense of purpose within your own personal life.” Currently, she shares her life on a charming farm with Jake Bongiovi, son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.
Simple Life, Complex Joys
In a February interview with Vanity Fair, Brown clarified her decision to embrace farm life. She expressed her desire to distance herself from social media trends that glorify traditional homemaking. This term often epitomized by the ‘trad wife’ phenomenon denotes women who adopt classic gender roles while showcasing their domestic lives online.
However, Brown is not motivated by aesthetics. She emphasized, “I’m not doing it for the aesthetic. I’m doing it because I love it. If you’re not picking up horse manure or washing a cow with your bare hands, then that life is not made for you. At all.” Despite the chaos that comes with farm life, she cherishes every moment.
Explaining her chaotic yet fulfilling lifestyle, she noted, “You think animals are peaceful. You think the South is peaceful. But there’s so much chaos. My animals are loud; my dogs are crazy. There is laughter, passion, and a vibrant chaotic atmosphere, and that is where I thrive.”
Embracing Motherhood at a Young Age
In April 2023, Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi announced their engagement, sealing their commitment with marriage in May the following year. At just 20, this young couple’s relationship sparked discussions among fans online. Brown candidly shared her perspective, stating, “I understood I was young. When you meet that person, you just know it.”
Recently, they expanded their family by adopting a daughter in the summer. During her appearance on the Smartless podcast, she mentioned how special her journey into motherhood has been. Brown shared, “My mom had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. This desire has been part of my life since before I met Jake. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
Talking to Vogue, she described her adoption journey as one filled with love and learning. “It’s been a beautiful journey. Perspective is significant. The smaller things in life hold so much value. Our days are filled with cuddles, laughter, and endless joy,” she stated.
Brown also mentioned that she and Bongiovi actively share parenting responsibilities, ensuring a balanced approach to their family life. “We are 50-50 on everything. I’m grateful to have partnered with him in this life – he is an amazing dad,” she shared.

When asked by Vogue about her daughter’s personality, Brown expressed the importance of privacy regarding her child. She stated, “For me, it’s crucial to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to choose whether to share it herself. As her parents, it’s our job to safeguard her from the spotlight.”
At the premiere of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5, she revealed her baby’s godfather to be Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show. Additionally, she granted babysitting privileges to Sadie Sink, the actress who portrays Max Mayfield.
Brown remarked on her bond with the show’s cast, adding, “Sadie is very maternal. I trust all of them. They all become the most soft versions of themselves when they’re around her.” Brown often shares glimpses of her new life on social media, showcasing moments of her daily adventures.
