History awaits the Minnesota Vikings as the NFL unveils its exciting international schedule for the upcoming season.
On Tuesday, the league confirmed that games will occur across various nations, including Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, and Spain. This year marks a significant expansion of the NFL’s commitment to global engagement.
In a notable first, the Vikings will become the initial NFL team to compete internationally for two consecutive weeks. This groundbreaking achievement will begin with a clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park in Dublin on September 28. The game will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
Mark Wilf, the owner of the Vikings, expressed enthusiasm about the unique opportunity. He stated, “Playing in Ireland’s first-ever NFL game is an opportunity to introduce new fans to the Minnesota Vikings and help the league continue to make football more accessible globally. Competing against a storied franchise like the Pittsburgh Steelers adds a unique challenge that makes this experience even more special.”
Wilf further mentioned, “We are honored to be selected for this historic game and eagerly await what promises to be an electric game day atmosphere at Croke Park.”
The following week, the Vikings will head to London to face the Cleveland Browns, continuing their historic run of international games. This matchup is also scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. ET start at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Wilf shared his excitement about returning to London, emphasizing the memorable experiences from previous games. He noted, “Our experiences in London have always been memorable, so to return in 2025 as the first team to play in back-to-back international games in different countries was something we could not pass up. UK fans have consistently shown their support and embraced the Minnesota Vikings, creating what often feels like a home-field environment. We are hopeful that is what we see again in 2025.”
The Vikings are no strangers to playing overseas. They first met the Steelers in 2012 during the NFL’s inaugural season of multiple London games. Since then, the team has played in several valuable international encounters, including a matchup against the Browns in London in 2017 and a game versus the New Orleans Saints in 2022.
Last season, they turned heads with an impressive victory over the New York Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, further solidifying their reputation on the international stage.
As the 2025 NFL season approaches, fans eagerly await the opportunities that lie ahead for the Vikings. Their groundbreaking back-to-back international matchups signal a significant moment not only for the team but also for the NFL as it strives to expand the reach of American football around the world.
While the Vikings gear up for an exciting season, they remain committed to fostering a passion for football that transcends borders. Proponents of the sport can anticipate thrilling experiences as the Vikings aim to create memorable moments for fans across the globe.
