Missouri Couple Faces Serious Charges for Alleged Abuse of Teenagers

A Missouri couple has been accused of subjecting two teenage children to severe abuse by locking them in a chicken pen and shooting at them with BB guns. This shocking incident underscores a troubling pattern of mistreatment, according to investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents Chantel Spring Hayford, aged 38, and Jerry Allen Menees, whose age was not disclosed in court filings, were arrested on January 13 following an investigation prompted by the Division of Family Services. The authorities received reports detailing allegations of neglect and abuse involving the two children, aged 13 and 14.

Serious Criminal Charges Filed

Menees faces a slew of charges, including two counts of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, armed criminal action, and abuse or neglect of a child. He is also charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of first-degree domestic assault.

On the other hand, Hayford has been charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, four counts of abuse or neglect of a child, and two counts of first-degree domestic assault. Both individuals are currently held without bond.
