A recent lawsuit against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. highlights the alleged negligence of the company in protecting its guests from inappropriate actions by an employee. This legal action follows a troubling incident involving a Florida theme park worker who has been accused of taking unauthorized photographs of numerous female guests.

The lawsuit, initiated by a family member of one alleged victim, asserts that Disney did not act sufficiently to secure the safety of visitors at its Orlando theme parks, particularly concerning former employee Jorge Diaz Vega Jr.

Details of the Allegations

Diaz Vega has faced serious accusations since his arrest in 2023 for allegedly filming up the skirts of over 600 unsuspecting women while employed in the Star Wars section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The disturbing nature of these allegations has raised significant questions regarding the company’s oversight of its staff.

In the 18-page lawsuit, the grandparent of a 14-year-old victim claims that Disney failed to adequately supervise Diaz Vega after he had been reported for photographing a co-worker without her consent. This report allegedly occurred before Diaz Vega began recording guests.

Lack of Action Raises Concerns

The lawsuit contends that Disney had ample reason to investigate Diaz Vega’s behavior, stating, “Upon information and belief, Disney employees, agents, servants, and/or apparent agents knew or should have known that [Diaz Vega] had committed similar acts of video voyeurism of guests and co-workers over the six years he was employed by Disney.” With evidence of more than 600 inappropriate images and videos found on his phone, the plaintiff argues Disney’s failure to act posed significant risks to public safety.

Furthermore, the legal claim highlights that continuing Diaz Vega’s employment after the initial incident endangered the public and particularly affected the plaintiff’s minor grandchild.

The Incident That Sparked the Investigation

On the day prior to his arrest, a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A woman had informed security about a man, dressed in a Star Wars uniform, who allegedly took a photo up her granddaughter’s dress. Regrettably, authorities were unable to identify the individual at that time.

The subsequent day, a security guard observed Diaz Vega attempting to film
