FIRST ON FOX: Newly confirmed Small Business Administration (SBA) administrator Kelly Loeffler has revealed her ambitious agenda aimed at transforming the agency and driving economic prosperity. Her plans come as she collaborates closely with President Trump, intending to initiate a golden era of growth for American small businesses.
Loeffler’s confirmation in the Senate came through a narrow vote of 52-46 last week, paving the way for her to unveil a strategic memo outlining her priorities for the next four years. The SBA’s mission will now center on executing President Trump’s America First agenda, which seeks to empower small businesses and establish a robust environment for free enterprise.
The primary focus of Loeffler’s agenda involves promoting a Made in America strategy to rejuvenate U.S. manufacturing. In her memo, she emphasized the pivotal role of small businesses in American manufacturing.
“The vast majority of America’s manufacturers are small businesses, and SBA programs have powered tens of thousands of them,” the memo highlights. “This agency is committed to supporting the America First agenda by rebuilding American supply chains and investing in manufacturing to strengthen our economy and national security.”
As part of this approach, the SBA will transition its Office of International Trade into an Office of Manufacturing and Trade. This new office will focus on fostering economic independence, creating jobs, and promoting fair trade practices to bolster the next blue-collar boom.
Kelly Loeffler has pledged to tackle issues surrounding waste and mismanagement within the SBA. According to her memo, the agency will step up efforts to combat fraud, instituting a zero-tolerance policy. This effort includes appointing a Fraud Czar to oversee investigations and ensure taxpayer money is spent effectively to benefit small businesses.
“As fraud has risen, so too have delinquencies, defaults, and charge-offs on loan programs, exacerbated by the previous Administration’s lax loan underwriting and servicing procedures,” Loeffler articulated. The SBA will also push for an independent audit of its financial practices to restore credibility and ensure the effective administration of public-private programs designed to stimulate economic growth.
In line with President Trump’s directive, Loeffler indicated that non-exempt SBA employees would be required to return to in-person work five days a week starting Monday. This move is part of a broader effort to reestablish a strong work ethic within federal agencies.
Loeffler’s vision also encompasses stricter immigration policies. Her memo specifies an initiative to prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving SBA assistance and to restrict certain foreign nationals from accessing SBA programs. This approach aligns with Trump’s immigration agenda, which aims to prioritize American citizens in governmental assistance programs.
To enhance support for small businesses, the SBA has outlined several initiatives. These include the establishment of a strike force aimed at diminishing regulatory burdens, improving customer service, and enhancing cybersecurity measures. Additionally, the agency will prioritize fair competition while relocating offices away from sanctuary cities.
In recent times, the agency faced scrutiny from the Republican-led Small Business Committee during the previous administration. The committee issued a subpoena, alleging a failure to provide adequate information regarding efforts to funnel resources to facilitate voter registration in swing states. Loeffler’s memo promises to halt these contentious activities, recommitting to the SBA’s foundational mission of nurturing job creators and promoting economic vitality.
“The SBA will end all taxpayer-funded voter registration activities – starting by rescinding the agency’s 2024 MOU with the Michigan Secretary of State’s office, which forced SBA district offices to conduct partisan voter registration on behalf of the previous Administration,” Loeffler stated, reaffirming the agency’s goal to focus on its core mission.
Kelly Loeffler, who served as a senator from Georgia from 2020 to 2021, expressed her dedication to small businesses during her recent appearance before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee. She emphasized that implementing Trump’s policies would restore the vitality of the small business sector and usher in a new era of economic prosperity.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our nation, driving innovation, job creation, and prosperity – and there’s no stronger advocate for small business than President Trump or myself,” Loeffler asserted. Reflecting on the SBA’s past mismanagement, she added, “Over the last four years, the SBA has burdened entrepreneurs with bureaucracy – with its programs becoming mired in fraud, waste, and abuse.”
As she embarks on this transformative journey, Loeffler firmly stated, “That changes today. My first priority is rebuilding the SBA into an America First engine for free enterprise – by empowering small businesses and fueling economic growth.”
