He was so much more than an exceptional football player; he was a remarkable young man who greatly impacted our program and me personally. His leadership, energy, and smile were infectious, and he left a lasting impression on everyone involved in our program. We had a special bond that extended far beyond the field,” Taylor said.
He further elaborated on Kneeland’s passion for life and football, saying, “Our entire Bronco Football family is devastated, and we send our deepest prayers to his family and teammates. Marshawn will forever be a part of the Bronco brotherhood.”

According to authorities, trouble began when Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers attempted to execute a traffic stop on Kneeland’s vehicle around 10:33 p.m. on the night of the incident. Kneeland did not comply and led them on a pursuit, which ended when officers lost sight of his vehicle.
Authorities later discovered Kneeland’s car abandoned. Following a search of the area, he was found dead hours later. The Frisco police, who aided in the pursuit, reported that they located Kneeland shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office is responsible for determining the official cause of death, although initial reports indicate it resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
