Nutrition Experts Warn Against Harmful Halloween Candies This Year

As children prepare for Halloween festivities, community advocates, particularly from the Make America Healthy Again movement, are raising important health concerns regarding Halloween candy. Experts emphasize that many popular sweets contain more health risks than parents may realize.

Kendall Mackintosh, a Maryland-based dietitian nutritionist, highlights a common justification for unhealthy treats. She notes that many believe Halloween candy is only consumed once a year. However, she argues that the health implications of these choices are significant.

“It’s not just a once-a-year event. What we feed our children has lasting effects. Nobody wants to distribute candy loaded with synthetic preservatives, artificial dyes, and corn syrup,” Mackintosh stated.

Mackintosh, who also serves on the Global Wellness Forum Council, warns that even occasional exposure to these additives can lead to inflammation, behavioral changes, and gut imbalances.
