A recent poll has ignited concern among activists regarding the growing support for socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, particularly in relation to his views on Israel and Palestine. The survey indicates that Mamdani commands a significant lead not only in the race but also in influencing public perception on this contentious issue.
The latest findings from the New York Times/Siena College poll, conducted from September 2 to 6, reveal that likely New York City voters were asked to identify which candidate they believe has most effectively addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during the campaign.
Mamdani emerged at the forefront, receiving 43% of the votes for best addressing this issue. He was followed by former Governor Andrew Cuomo at 16%, current Mayor Eric Adams at 11%, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa at 8%.
