Pro-Life Influencer Savannah Craven Antao Sues Alleged Attacker After Dismissal of Assault Charges

A well-known pro-life influencer, Savannah Craven Antao, has taken legal action following an incident in which she was assaulted during a street interview in New York City. The lawsuit comes after the charges against her alleged attacker were dismissed, sparking outrage from the activist.

Craven Antao, host of the popular YouTube channel “Her Patriot Voice,” was conducting interviews for the organization Live Action on April 3 when she was reportedly punched multiple times by Brianna J. Rivers, a 30-year-old Bronx resident. The incident gained significant attention online, highlighting the tensions surrounding pro-life activism.

Details of the Incident and Lawsuit

In a complaint filed on November 18 in Bronx Supreme Court, Craven Antao recounted her harrowing experience. Following the attack, she required emergency medical attention, accumulating over $3,000 in medical expenses. Craven Antao’s legal representation from the Thomas More Society alleges that Rivers engaged in a campaign of harassment against her, including ridiculing her beliefs online, which they claim constitutes intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The lawsuit further claims that Rivers mocked Craven Antao’s religious convictions and even began selling merchandise related to the assault. One design, depicting a fist striking a face with the word “BAM!”, reportedly aimed to generate funds for Rivers’ legal defense.

Impact of the Assault

Since the attack, Craven Antao has experienced severe psychological repercussions. Her attorneys assert that she displays symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and has endured a barrage of death threats in the aftermath of the confrontation. The ongoing distress prompted her legal action, which seeks both compensatory and punitive damages for the alleged assault and emotional harm.

The Role of the District Attorney

Initially, Rivers faced charges of second-degree assault. However, the case was dismissed in July due to a failure by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, led by Alvin Bragg, to compile and provide key discovery materials on time. Consequently, the lawsuit criticizes the DA’s office for allowing the case to diminish to a misdemeanor charge before ultimately being dropped.

Craven Antao voiced her discontent with Bragg’s handling of the situation. In a recent interview, she expressed her safety concerns, stating, “I have to look over my shoulder and worry about if somebody who supports her actions — there are a lot of people out there that do — feels emboldened to try to do something else.”

Bragg’s Apology and Future Actions

In September, Bragg’s office released a statement acknowledging their error and apologizing to Craven Antao. The DA’s spokesperson emphasized that every victim deserves their opportunity for justice and noted that internal measures were being taken to prevent similar oversights in the future.

Despite this acknowledgment, Craven Antao felt compelled to initiate a lawsuit as a means of achieving accountability and reinforcing the need for respect during public discourse. She stated, “First, I’d really appreciate my over $3,000 in medical bills to be paid off, because I should not be responsible for those. Second, it’s to send a message — hopefully to show her that she can’t do this again.”

Looking to the Future

Craven Antao expressed a desire not only for personal closure but also for broader societal change regarding violence against conservative figures. She connected her fears to the alarming rise in threats faced by individuals within the conservative community, highlighting incidents such as the recent killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Her concerns speak to a growing unease among conservative activists and commentators, who often vocalize their beliefs in an increasingly hostile climate. Craven Antao remarked, “If they could do it to somebody like him, who has the resources to have security, what does this mean for average journalists who don’t have the means to afford such protections?”

A Call for Accountability in Activism

Rivers, for her part, previously issued a public apology via Facebook, expressing remorse for the physical confrontation but defended her actions by labeling Craven Antao as a professional antagonist rather than a legitimate reporter. This adds further layers to the ongoing dialogue about accountability and decorum in heated ideological exchanges.

Despite reaching out for comments, both the Manhattan DA’s office and Rivers declined to respond to inquiries related to the lawsuit or the incident, leaving many questions surrounding the case unanswered.

This lawsuit not only spotlights a particular act of violence against an individual but also raises critical discussions about the cultural climate surrounding ideological divides in America. As Craven Antao pursues legal recourse, her case emphasizes the urgent need for respectful engagement and the safeguarding of individuals, regardless of their beliefs.
