Protests erupted at the University of Washington in Seattle on Tuesday, coinciding with a Turning Point USA event. Protesters allegedly threw “literal human feces” at students checking in for a speech addressing the participation of biological men in women’s sports.
The event, titled “The Fight is Far From Over,” took place in the university’s Ethnic Cultural Theater. This gathering was organized by Riley Gaines and Olivia Krolczyk, with entry open to anyone possessing a valid photo ID.
Gaines initially reported the protest on X, stating that demonstrators were chanting “God is trans.” She later updated her post to indicate that protesters had thrown feces at TPUSA attendees during the registration process.
According to local media, around 150 individuals were present at the protest, displaying a variety of signs, some containing vulgar language, in opposition to Gaines and Krolczyk. Many protesters waved transgender flags, which added to the charged atmosphere.
Footage shared on social media by Frontlines, a media outlet affiliated with TPUSA, revealed that some protesters were dressed in black and obscured their faces. They followed event attendees to their vehicles, hurling insults such as “transphobes” and “scum of the earth” and suggesting that they harm themselves.
Several attendees required police escort due to the harassment. Protesters were overheard shouting aggressive remarks, such as, “I hope you drop dead behind the wheel. F— you!” This hostile interaction exemplifies the tensions surrounding discussions on gender issues and women’s rights in sports.
Prior Unrest at the University of Washington
Krolczyk, who represents the Riley Gaines Center at the Learning Institute, previously confronted similar opposition when attempting to speak at the university back in January. Those protests grew so intense that the event was ultimately canceled amid claims of escalating violence.
Krolczyk recalled the chaotic environment she faced. “As soon as I arrived on campus, I was immediately met with confrontation. Signs and flyers urged me to leave and rallied support for the protest. It was overwhelming—you couldn’t walk ten feet without encountering them,” she remarked in an interview.
She further described the rapid escalation of the protest: “The situation turned violent very quickly when Antifa intervened. We ended up contending with about 200 protesters that day.”
