Rare Discovery: Complete Mastodon Jaw Uncovered in New York Backyard

A New York homeowner recently made an astonishing find: a complete mastodon jaw in their backyard, prompting officials to label it a “remarkable discovery.” This jaw belonged to an extinct mammal, resembling a modern elephant, and was unearthed in Scotchtown, thanks to the efforts of researchers from the New York State Museum and SUNY Orange.
