In March alone, a remarkable total of 5,577 new applications flooded in, according to insights from Fox News Digital.

The last time the bureau encountered a monthly total nearing this figure was in April 2016, with 5,283 applications recorded. To put this into perspective, the average number of applications for 2023 stood at 2,797, with figures slightly higher at 3,383 per month in 2024, as per the FBI data reviewed by Fox News Digital.

Patel’s Leadership and Its Effects

FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson shared with Fox News Digital that “Director Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino have placed significant importance on restoring public confidence in federal law enforcement and enhancing recruitment efforts for new agents. These record early returns suggest that the FBI is heading in the right direction.”

Since January, the bureau has seen over 10,000 new applications. In January, which marked both the first month of the Trump administration and the time of Patel’s nomination and confirmation hearings, the FBI tallied 4,143 applications. This was notable as it was the first month with new agent applications in the 4,000s since August 2020.

The Public’s Trust in Federal Law Enforcement

Erica Knight, an advisor to Patel, remarked, “The impressive number of FBI job applications in March illustrates that individuals are motivated by Kash Patel’s dedication to restoring the bureau’s integrity and effectiveness.
