Lawler commented on the Democratic initiatives in his state, stating that Governor Kathy Hochul and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ efforts to alter New York’s congressional districts just months before an election exemplify a blatant power grab and an abuse of public office.

The Redistricting Struggle Grows

The redistricting battle escalated significantly last year when Texas’ Republican-majority legislature endorsed a new congressional map, which had the potential to secure up to five additional seats for Republicans in the House of Representatives in the forthcoming elections.
