Riley Gaines and her husband Louis Barker recently shared insights on their parenting approach following the birth of their daughter Margot. Welcoming their first child last week, the couple appeared on an episode of OutKick’s “Gaines for Girls” podcast to explore their parenting strategies.
During the podcast, Gaines and Barker discussed their shared vision for raising Margot. Barker emphasized the importance of demonstrating a united front in their parenting approach. He stated that consistency between parents is vital for providing a stable environment for their daughter.
He expressed his desire for Margot to view her parents as a cohesive team rather than individuals with conflicting messages. Barker explained, “I want Margot to see that me and Riley are on a team, that we’re on the same page. It’s not mommy versus daddy; it’s mom and dad together. We are one. The one thing I would hate more than anything is for Margot to run to Riley and say, ‘Hey can I do this?’ She says no and she comes to me and I say yes. That inconsistency would drive me nuts.”
Gaines shared her agreement with Barker’s perspective, noting the significance of setting a strong example for their child. She remarked that many children today lack direction and consequences, which can stem from inconsistent parenting practices.
“It makes sense, and I think to set that example is something kids are lacking. We see it all the time – children who are lacking direction in their homes,” Gaines stated. She believes that establishing clear expectations and consequences is crucial in fostering a healthy upbringing.
Barker further emphasized the commitment they’re making to avoid
