This response follows remarks made by President Donald Trump, who mocked Medvedev’s suggestion that other nations might assist Iran in acquiring nuclear capabilities after recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Medvedev, who now serves as the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, originally expressed concerns about Iran’s evolving nuclear program during a Sunday address. He suggested that other countries would likely support Iran’s nuclear ambitions. However, he later clarified that Russia was not among those nations.
During a Monday post on social media platform X, Medvedev stated, “I condemn the U.S. strike on Iran—it failed to achieve its objectives. However, Russia has no intention of supplying nuclear weapons to Iran because, unlike Israel, we are parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”
