Authorities continue the search for the suspect involved in the tragic assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot on the campus of Utah Valley University. Investigators reported that they are currently analyzing security footage featuring an individual dressed entirely in dark clothing.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, suffered a fatal gunshot wound around 12:20 PM local time on Wednesday while delivering a speech at a public engagement. Witnesses described chaos as the event was taking place before emergency responders rushed him to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities Share Limited Details About the Shooter

Beau Mason, Commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, provided information from the security footage during a media briefing. He mentioned that the quality of the tapes may limit investigators. Yet, they are focusing on the suspect described as wearing all dark clothing.

Mason emphasized the challenges they face in providing additional details about the shooter, stating, “We do have that footage, and we’re analyzing it. But it is important to note that the quality isn’t perfect.” He urged anyone with information to come forward.

Ongoing Investigation with Multiple Agencies Involved

The investigation is ongoing, as both the FBI and the Utah Department of Public Safety are collaborating closely. They are supported by the Utah County Attorney’s office, the Utah County Sheriff’s office, and various local law enforcement agencies.
