In a remarkable electoral event that follows closely behind the historic election of socialist New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, Seattle has now chosen a leader with similar progressive ideals. This victory positions Katie Wilson, a notable activist, at the helm of the West Coast’s fifth-largest city.
Wilson, who heads a nonprofit organization known as the Transit Riders Union, won a hard-fought contest against incumbent Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell.
