Seven Florida Residents Arrested in Major Global Child Pornography Investigation

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, and agents from Homeland Security Investigations have taken decisive action against an international child sexual abuse material crime network. Seven individuals from Florida face charges related to this ongoing investigation into child pornography.

According to officials, these men acquired explicit material through advertisements posted on TikTok. They believe that the mastermind behind this operation is based in Turkey.

One undercover agent involved in the investigation reportedly purchased an astounding 6.7 terabytes of child pornography, which included approximately 1.2 million videos and images. Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell stated that this overwhelming amount of material is shocking.

Attorney General Uthmeier expressed his outrage at the situation, saying, “It’s disgusting that child sexual abuse material is advertised in plain view on apps such as TikTok. We will continue fighting to get these major social media companies to do their part in shutting down the spread of this material. I’m grateful for our FDLE partners who uncovered this deviant network and highlighted their sickening actions. Our Statewide Prosecutors will ensure these disgusting criminals face justice.”

Ongoing Investigations and Arrests

Reports indicate that the alleged ringleader remains in Turkey, and a warrant is currently issued for his arrest. Investigators are actively working on extraditing him back to Florida to face charges.

In Uthmeier’s words, “The arrests of these predators are just the beginning. Every image of child abuse leaves a lasting scar on an innocent life, and we will aggressively prosecute these heinous crimes.” This threefold approach underscores the seriousness of their efforts against child exploitation.

The investigation commenced in July 2024 when a Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent began a proactive criminal review of websites known for distributing child sexual abuse material. During this examination, the agent discovered an individual selling illicit content.

Upon identifying the user, detectives launched a comprehensive investigation, revealing numerous listings from the same seller. Remarkably, they managed to shut down the website within just one week.

Connections to a Larger Network

The investigation revealed a connection to a broader distribution network led by an individual operating under the alias “John De Vil.” This individual has been identified as Mehmet Bozuyuk, who currently resides in Adana, Turkey. Bozuyuk has multiple stolen identities, which he uses to facilitate his global distribution of child sexual abuse material through accomplices like New Jersey resident Krunalkumar Modi and Oregon resident Ximena Maqueda.

On July 31, law enforcement officers arrested Modi, charging him with 100 counts of promoting sexual performance by a child, along with various other counts related to the production and distribution of explicit material. This arrest marked a significant milestone in the fight against child exploitation.

Charges and Arrests of Additional Suspects

The investigation into the criminal network led to the arrests of seven additional Florida residents who are considered “customers” of the child sexual abuse material distribution operation. These individuals face charges of conspiracy to commit RICO, along with charges of purchasing child sexual abuse material and unlawfully using a two-way communication device.

Currently, active arrest warrants remain in effect for several other individuals linked to this disturbing case.
