The Department of Homeland Security has provided updates on more than a dozen illegal immigrant suspects arrested in Los Angeles, starting from June 6. These individuals face serious charges as the agency moves to enhance security and enforce immigration laws.
Following violent protests that erupted over the weekend, the agency revealed that “hundreds of illegal aliens were arrested by ICE officers and agents,” many of whom had extensive criminal histories. The escalation in unrest corresponds to the recent ICE raids, a clear response to increased enforcement in the area.
In a detailed account, DHS outlined information on 19 Mexicans taken into custody on June 7. The suspects face a range of accusations, from robbery to second-degree murder and rape, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

DHS reports reveal alarming details about some of the individuals arrested. Cuong Chanh Phan, a 49-year-old Vietnamese national, had previously been convicted of second-degree murder. In a chilling account, Phan was sentenced to 15 years to life after his involvement in a drive-by shooting at a high school graduation party in 1994.
The deaths of Dennis Buan and David Hang during that incident illustrate the serious nature of this suspect’s criminal past. DHS indicated that the actions of individuals like Phan present a direct threat to community safety, which raises questions about Governor Newsom’s stance on immigration enforcement.
