Smokey Robinson Initiates $500 Million Lawsuit Against Sexual Assault Accusers

Legendary Musician Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations

Smokey Robinson has escalated the legal battle against his sexual assault accusers by filing a $500 million cross-complaint. This comes in the wake of a $50 million lawsuit initiated by four former employees accusing him of sexual misconduct, false imprisonment, and related claims.

The lawsuit was formally lodged in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday. Legal documents reveal that the 85-year-old singer and his wife, Frances, have sued their accusers, referred to as Jane Does, along with their attorneys. The complaint includes serious allegations of slander, financial elder abuse, intentional infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and civil conspiracy.

The cross-complaint asserts that the claims made against Robinson are unfounded, describing them as “fabricated in support of their extortionate scheme.” The filing indicates that Robinson and his wife have treated their employees like family rather than a mere workforce.

Robinson’s Affidavit Reflects Personal Ties

According to the documents, the Robinsons enjoyed personal relationships with their accusers, going as far as vacationing and exchanging gifts. The lawsuit specifies instances of financial assistance provided to the accusers, which included monetary help for family members, clothing, dental procedures, and even a vehicle.

Additionally, the plaintiffs allegedly requested tickets to Robinson’s concerts for themselves and their families. The cross-complaint presented text messages that were purportedly sent by the accusers, showcasing birthday greetings and affectionate sentiments, as well as an invitation to a family graduation.

In the assertion of their innocence, the Robinsons emphasized that they acted with kindness and generosity toward their former staff members, stating that the accusers’ greed and avarice have driven them to fabricate these allegations.

Allegations of Initial Extortion Attempts

The legal documents claim that prior to filing their lawsuit, the accusers demanded $100 million from the Robinsons, and upon failure to reach an agreement, they proceeded to file their claims publicly. The lawsuit suggests this was an orchestrated effort to create a media spectacle surrounding the case.

Remarkably, the complaint points to a press conference led by the accusers’ attorneys where dramatic actions were noted, such as wearing masks and sunglasses, which the Robinsons’ lawsuit claims was intended for maximum theatrical effect. During this press event, one attorney labeled Robinson as a “serial and sick rapist,” statements that the lawsuit disputes, labeling them as unfounded and misleading.

The lawsuit further alleges that the accusers are intentionally concealing their identities to present a distorted narrative to the public.

Questions Surrounding Past Conduct

The cross-complaint introduces additional claims regarding potential misconduct by the accusers themselves. Reports indicate that one individual deleted all communications, photos, and other identifying data from Frances Robinson’s phone, raising suspicions about their intentions.

Moreover, the documents allege that the accusers may have had access to the Robinsons’ valuables, including a hidden safe containing gold coins, which was later reported stolen. The lawsuit mentions that the staff possessed inside knowledge of the couple’s possessions, giving rise to concerns over theft during their employment.

Frances Robinson indicated that during this time, financial records, including important bank statements, vanished, leading to further suspicion regarding the accusers’ conduct.

The cross-complaint argues that there had been no indication of abuse or misconduct during the accusers’ employment. It is noted that at least one accuser returned to work for Robinson after previously leaving, which contradicts claims of intimidation or fear.

Legal Maneuvers Underway

In conjunction with the cross-complaint, the Robinsons’ legal counsel filed a motion to dismiss the original lawsuit. They argue that it contravenes the California Code of Civil Procedure since it was filed under fictitious names.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, the accusers have openly identified themselves as four former housekeepers who worked for Robinson at his Chatsworth residence between 2006 and 2024. They allege a pattern of repeated sexual assault and rape during their time of employment.

Frances Robinson has also faced accusations of failing to address a purported “hostile work environment,” with claimants alleging she had knowledge of Smokey Robinson’s previous misconduct.

Specific Allegations from the Accusers

The lawsuit details the experiences of each accuser. Jane Doe 1 claims she was forced to resign following multiple instances of sexual assault. She emphasized her reluctance to report incidents out of fear for her job security and personal safety.

Meanwhile, Jane Doe 2 accuses Robinson of initiating sexual encounters in private areas of the home, often out of sight of surveillance cameras. This accuser claims she was assaulted numerous times during her employment.

Another accuser, Jane Doe 3, alleges that her entire time of employment was marred by sexual assaults, with specific incidents outlined in the legal filings.

Finally, Jane Doe 4, who served in multiple capacities including personal assistant to Frances Robinson, recounts experiences of sexual assault commencing shortly after her employment began.

The four women have brought forth claims beyond sexual battery, including negligence, intentional emotional distress, gender violence, and other labor law violations.

Continuing Investigation

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that an inquiry into the allegations against Robinson is ongoing, although no criminal charges have yet been filed.

This evolving story highlights a complex legal conflict that may have significant ramifications for all parties involved.
