A coalition of socialist and communist groups organized protests across the United States on Friday, targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Although the demonstrations called for a nationwide halt to work, school, and commerce, participation largely fell short of expectations.
According to a continuing investigation by Fox News Digital, many of the groups involved are linked to a network of nonprofits funded by the influential technology entrepreneur Neville Roy Singham. Residing in China, Singham has openly endorsed Marxist beliefs and leveraged his extensive connections to disseminate pro-Chinese Communist Party narratives.
In Washington, D.C., Fox News Digital witnessed the unfolding events near the Gallery Place–Chinatown Metro station. Around 2:49 p.m., a vehicle pulled into an alley adjacent to a Walgreens, where members of the local chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation unloaded a significant number of bright yellow protest signs attached to wooden stakes.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation, identifying as a Marxist group, has been at the forefront of several past demonstrations against police and ICE. They have remained vocal in their opposition to what they perceive as government repression.
As the clock struck 3 p.m., marking the designated start time, one of the Party for Socialism and Liberation leaders orchestrated the gathering with a stack of signs in hand. “Into the streets!” she shouted, her call resonating with the protesters as they followed her direction, their new signs in tow.
The broader action was framed as a National Shutdown, slated for Friday, with activists calling for
