The State Department recently announced significant changes to its approach regarding foreign student visas. During a press briefing on Thursday, spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized that the new scrutiny will not be a temporary measure, but rather an ongoing evaluation for the duration of a foreign student’s stay in the United States.

“Every individual holding a visa must understand the gravity of their status; it is a continuous process rather than a one-time verification,” Bruce clarified. She explained that any legal issues or arrests that occur during their stay would likely trigger heightened scrutiny at some point.

The heightened focus on security stems from ongoing national concerns. Bruce refrained from divulging extensive details about the precise nature of the new scrutiny process. However, she did confirm that student visa interviews are anticipated to resume in the near future once the updated protocols are finalized.
