A tense atmosphere envelops an affluent Seattle-area suburb following a random daytime stabbing that has left a woman critically wounded and the community in shock.
The incident unfolded on Saturday morning along Bear Creek Trail near Redmond Town Center, a bustling recreational spot frequented by joggers and families. Local police officials have warned residents that the suspect is still at large, posing a serious threat to public safety.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a bystander who reported seeing a woman down on the trail. Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe indicated that investigators believe the stabbing occurred just moments before the call was made. Remarkably, officers arrived on the scene within two minutes of the alert.
Emergency responders found a 50-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. They provided immediate medical assistance before rushing her to the hospital where she is currently in critical condition.
Chief Lowe confirmed that despite being in and out of consciousness, the victim managed to answer some questions. She indicated to officers that she did not recognize her attacker, suggesting that the act of violence was indeed random.
A witness who observed a potential suspect fleeing the scene stayed with the authorities and provided a detailed description. According to Chief Lowe, investigators are searching for a male, potentially of Hispanic, white, or Asian descent, standing about 5-foot-9 with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie or jacket, accompanied by blue jeans and a black beanie.
Given the unsettling nature of this incident, police are actively urging the public to exercise caution. Residents have been advised not to approach anyone resembling the suspect and to contact police immediately with any information.
The random nature of the attack has left many in the community feeling rattled. The trail, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, has now become a source of fear for its regular visitors.
Comments from local residents reflect the growing anxiety surrounding the attack. “It seems like a random act, which makes it scarier because we don’t know what the motive is,” stated Redmond resident Rajalakshmi Pramod. Others echoed similar sentiments, expressing hesitation about returning to the trail. Many are advising friends and family to avoid the area until the suspect is apprehended.
Several frequent walkers and runners shared their unease about the situation, revealing a community deep in concern for their safety.
