A Texas court is set to evaluate a motion from Brad Simpson, the husband of missing realtor Suzanne Simpson, who stands accused of her murder. The hearing is scheduled for April 22, and it follows new developments in this high-profile case that has captivated the San Antonio area.
Suzanne Simpson, a 51-year-old mother of four, was reported missing on October 6, 2024, after a heated argument with her husband, Brad, at their residence in Olmos Park. The couple had attended a party earlier that night at The Argyle, a prestigious Alamo Heights club. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the couple engaged in a verbal altercation during the event, raising concerns about their relationship.
According to court documents, authorities believe that Brad intentionally caused Suzanne’s death on the night she disappeared. His attorney, Steven Gilmore, has argued that there is sufficient evidence to support their request for the indictment, which includes charges of murder, tampering with evidence, and possession of prohibited weapons, to be quashed.
During a court session, Gilmore requested a hearing within 30 days, stating he feels prepared to challenge the murder charge based on what he describes as abundant evidence.
After leaving the party, Suzanne and her daughter visited a grocery store before returning home. Shortly after, Suzanne reached out to a family friend, indicating that she intended to stop by for a visit. In a subsequent call to her mother, she revealed that Brad had physically assaulted her. This alarming series of events escalated when a neighbor reported witnessing a loud argument and a physical struggle between the couple outside their home at approximately 10 p.m.
The neighbor described seeing Suzanne attempting to escape Brad’s grasp as he physically pulled her down. He reported also hearing screams coming from a nearby wooded area, which added to the growing concerns for Suzanne’s safety.
Furthermore, the neighbor later observed Brad’s truck leaving the vicinity only to return an hour later, igniting further suspicions regarding his actions on that fateful night.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage allegedly showing Brad driving his truck containing various items, including trash bags, an ice chest, and a large bulky object wrapped in a blue tarp. Notably, after visiting a gas station, the footage indicated that the white trash bags were no longer visible in his truck.
In a series of transactions at a local Home Depot, Brad purchased items that investigated parties view as suspicious, including cement, heavy-duty trash bags, and disinfectants. Witnesses further noted that after picking up his daughter from school, Brad was seen washing his truck, leading investigators to question the reasoning behind these actions.
The alarm over Suzanne’s welfare prompted her friend to report her missing on October 7. When police contacted Brad, he claimed he hadn’t seen her since around 11 p.m. on October 6. In text messages exchanged with a friend, Brad appeared to be in distress, requesting urgent assistance and implying a time constraint.
