Theme Parks Unite to Honor First Responders with Free Tickets Amid Wildfire Recovery

In a heartfelt gesture, two prominent Southern California theme parks, Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood, are offering free tickets to first responders as a token of gratitude for their relentless efforts in combating devastating wildfires that have plagued the region over the past month.

Universal Studios Hollywood’s ‘First Responder Heroes Ticket Offer’

On January 31, Universal Studios Hollywood unveiled its ‘First Responder Heroes Ticket Offer.’ This initiative is designed to thank all eligible active U.S.-based first responders, providing them with one complimentary general admission ticket and a 50% discount on up to three additional tickets. This offer remains valid until April 10, 2025.

According to the park’s website, the offer is not limited to just firefighters but extends to various first responders including paramedics, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and National Guard members. Universal Studios expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering dedication demonstrated by these individuals during the challenging wildfire response.

Words of Gratitude from Universal Studios

Scott Strobl, the executive vice president and general manager of Universal Studios Hollywood, commented, “The selfless dedication and tireless resilience exhibited by the first responders in response to combating the L.A. wildfires has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are immensely grateful to these unsung heroes for their courage during this difficult time.” He added, “When these first responders are ready for a much-needed break, we look forward to welcoming them to our theme park.” This symbolic ticket distribution reflects the park’s commitment to honoring those who serve the community.

To redeem the tickets, first responders must visit in person and present a valid government-issued photo ID along with their work ID card to verify their qualifying status.

Disneyland’s ‘Heroes Ticket’ Initiative

Following suit, Disneyland announced their own supportive measure on February 7, introducing the ‘Heroes Ticket.’ This initiative offers two free one-day “park hopper” tickets, allowing entry to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.

Disneyland’s Message of Support

Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort, stated, “We are inspired by the endless dedication and contributions of the heroes who battled the fires in the LA area, and our gratitude for their service is immeasurable.” He emphasized that Disneyland hopes these heroes can enjoy a memorable day at the park with loved ones, saying, “because they certainly deserve it.”

The Heroes Ticket is designated for eligible California firefighters, Los Angeles-based law enforcement, and emergency medical technicians who actively contributed to wildfire recovery efforts in January 2025. Furthermore, individuals from other departments that provided mutual aid assistance can also qualify.

Offer Details and Availability

Disneyland’s complimentary tickets will be valid for use from May 5 through August 7, 2025, but only on Mondays through Thursdays. Patrons will need to secure a theme park reservation to utilize their tickets. Additional information regarding this program will be distributed to eligible fire, police, and sheriff departments by April.

A Unified Thank You to Community Heroes

The collaborative efforts of both Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood underscore a significant acknowledgment of the challenges faced by first responders throughout the wildfire crisis. These initiatives not only provide a well-deserved break for those on the frontline but also foster community spirit and appreciation for the tireless work performed by everyday heroes.

In a climate of adversity, such gestures embody the hope and unity needed to rebuild and heal. As first responders take a moment to recharge in the joyful environment of theme parks, they remind us all of the resilience of the community and the importance of support for those who protect it.
