Todd and Julie Chrisley are officially free after a significant turn of events in their legal saga.
On Wednesday evening, Todd Chrisley emerged from a federal prison in Pensacola, Florida. He had been serving a sentence of two and a half years for bank fraud and tax evasion charges. His release closely followed a pardon issued by President Donald Trump for both Todd and his wife, Julie, who faced similar convictions in 2022.
According to Todd’s attorney, Alex Little, Todd is currently on his way back home to Nashville. Little’s office confirmed that Julie was also released from the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, shortly after Todd’s departure from the prison. The Chrisley couple is now heading back to their home city together.
The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, expressed her joy as she awaited her father’s release. Savannah mentioned that her brother Grayson was there to pick up their mother, demonstrating the closeness of the family during this challenging time.
Upon speaking with reporters outside the federal facility, Savannah conveyed her emotional journey leading up to this moment. She remarked, “Honestly, this process has been absolutely insane, and I am so grateful that I’m going to leave here with my dad.” Savannah also voiced her belief that prosecutors had unfairly targeted her father before the prison sentence was handed down.
She reacted strongly to the pardon, stating, “I was in such shock and awe that the president himself took the time to tell me my family is coming back together.” Savannah’s words echoed her passion not just for her family, but for all the individuals still incarcerated under similar circumstances. “I’m literally fighting for every man that has been left behind here,” she stated, showcasing her desire for broader justice.
The announcement of the pardon, made on Tuesday, saw Todd and Julie’s children reacting quickly on social media. Chase Chrisley expressed deep gratitude, saying, “I am grateful to God and extremely grateful to President Trump and his entire administration. I’m beyond thankful to finally have my parents back home and my family together again!”
Kyle Chrisley, whose mother is Todd’s ex-wife, also shared his excitement. He admitted to still being in disbelief at the news. “Truly. I just found out a little bit ago, and I still just can’t believe it. I know Savannah had been working at this for so long, and she never gave up,” Kyle stated. He also noted, “I know they can’t wait to get home and just be with family, and I’m going to remain hopeful that another reconciliation is possible.”
As Savannah waited for her father’s release, she was also seen with her best friend and hairstylist, Tyler Bishop. She wore a pink “Make America Great Again” hat and an all-black outfit, capturing the lighthearted spirit amidst the serious backdrop of their family’s recent struggles.
Savannah later released a video on her Instagram, recalling the moment she received the call from President Trump while entering Sam’s Club. In an ecstatic tone, she exclaimed, “So, both of my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow, and I still don’t believe it’s real!” Her unwavering support for her parents was evident as she thanked everyone involved in their release.
This pardon signifies a notable shift for Todd and Julie Chrisley. According to their attorney, Alex Little, a pardon of this nature essentially erases the case from legal records. Little stated, “A pardon like this generally ends the case entirely… it’s as if the case hasn’t happened.” With the couple now free, they will have the opportunity to focus on rebuilding their lives moving forward.
Little explained that the process surrounding pardons has seen less usage over recent presidential terms, but this case highlights its power. He expressed optimism that more cases deserving of pardons would receive similar attention and resolution.
With both parents now free, the Chrisley family looks toward the future. Savannah expressed her profound gratitude, saying she will remain committed to standing alongside President Trump and advocating for others still incarcerated. “Thank you, God, for a president who wants to restore families and loves people,” she emphasized, underscoring the importance of family unity.
As the Chrisleys embark on this new chapter of their lives, their journey continues to attract attention. The eventual reestablishment of familial bonds and their personal growth will be closely followed by fans and media alike.
