Two individuals tragically lost their lives in New Jersey due to flash flooding that swept away their vehicle amid a devastating storm that impacted the Northeast with torrential rains, according to authorities. This unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday in the northern New Jersey city of Plainfield.
The vehicle was engulfed by rushing waters from a nearby brook during the peak of the storm, city officials reported. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed to the public at this time.
In a separate event in a North Plainfield neighborhood, a house caught fire and subsequently collapsed. This incident likely resulted from an explosion shortly after the residents evacuated, though no injuries were reported.
