Tragic Loss: Southern California Tennis Star Dies After Alleged Drunk Driving Incident

A promising high school athlete in Southern California lost his life on Sunday night when he was struck by a suspected drunk driver, according to local police reports.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department announced that they arrested 33-year-old Jenia Belt on charges of DUI and murder shortly after midnight. Officers discovered the victim lying in the street near a vehicle. The individual has been identified as Braun Levi, an 18-year-old senior at Loyola High School, who was just weeks away from graduation and preparing to attend the University of Virginia.

Currently, police are holding Belt without bail as the investigation continues.

Levi was not only set to graduate this June from Loyola High School but was also a standout athlete. He played four years as a varsity starter on the school’s tennis team.
