Transgender Student in Indiana Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy for Valentine’s Day Attack

A transgender high school student from Indiana has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in connection with a planned Valentine’s Day mass shooting. The student, Trinity J. Shockley, aged 18, accepted a plea deal and entered the guilty plea in Morgan Superior Court.

Shockley, who identifies as a transgender male and prefers the names Jamie or Dex, faced multiple charges, including two counts of intimidation related to terrorism. The recent court filings indicate that the plea agreement was submitted on Friday, leading to a hearing on Monday where Shockley formally admitted guilt to conspiracy to commit murder, classified as a Level 2 felony. As part of the agreement, the two intimidation charges were dropped, with sentencing scheduled for November 24 at 10:15 a.m.

According to Indiana law, a conviction for a Level 2 felony can result in a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 30 years. The Indianapolis Star reported that Shockley’s attorney is advocating for a sentence of no more than 12.5 years, alongside a period of probation lasting up to five years.

As a condition of his probation, Shockley will be required to engage with mental health professionals. Furthermore, he is prohibited from searching for materials related to school shootings and is banned from entering any school properties within Morgan County.

Authorities uncovered Shockley’s alleged plot to attack Mooresville High School after the FBI in Indianapolis received an anonymous tip. This prompted a coordinated investigation with local law enforcement.

The tip revealed that Shockley reportedly had access to an AR-15 rifle and had purchased a bulletproof vest. Investigators noted that Shockley displayed an obsessive admiration for Nikolas Cruz, the perpetrator of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, which also took place on Valentine’s Day.

During a search of Shockley’s residence conducted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, authorities discovered an alarming
