A recent surge of cyberattacks has targeted various companies that provide essential services to millions of Americans. Notably, organizations such as Google, Farmers Insurance, Allianz Life, Workday, Pandora, Cisco, Chanel, and Qantas have reported breaches associated with Salesforce-connected applications.
In this alarming trend, credit reporting agency TransUnion has announced a significant data breach affecting over 4.4 million U.S. consumers. Attackers exploited vulnerabilities in third-party integrations rather than directly targeting Salesforce. Security experts have linked this attack to the notorious extortion group known as ShinyHunters, along with its affiliated groups.

TransUnion’s recent data breach has disclosed sensitive information about 4,461,511 individuals in the United States, as indicated in a filing with the Office of the Attorney General of Maine. The breach occurred on July 28, 2025, and was detected two days later on July 30.
According to TransUnion, the breach stemmed from unauthorized access to a third-party application that supports its U.S. consumer operations. The company emphasized that its core credit database and credit reports remained secure and unbreached.
While TransUnion described the exposed data as
