Michael Sumler of Kool & the Gang Dies in Tragic Accident
Michael Sumler, a cherished member of the iconic R&B and funk ensemble Kool & the Gang, has tragically passed away at the age of 71. His death follows a fatal car accident that occurred in Mableton, Georgia.
On the night of May 25, a collision involving Sumler happened on Veterans Memorial Highway, close to Buckner Road. The crash took place around 11:35 PM, according to information released by the Cobb County Police Department. Sumler succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as later confirmed by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Details from officials indicated that Sumler’s vehicle collided with that of another driver, identified as 33-year-old Khary Weaver. Fortunately, Weaver was not injured in the incident. The police remain actively engaged in the investigation of the crash.
