Among those affected are members of the ruling Morena party, which is led by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. In addition, various officials from other political affiliations have also seen their visas revoked, according to two Mexican government sources who spoke to the media.
Though the names of the individuals impacted remain undisclosed, several officials have publicly acknowledged the loss of their visas. Notably, Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila has denied any links to organized crime following the revocation of her visa.
A spokesperson from the State Department did not confirm the report directly but mentioned that visas can be revoked due to a range of concerns that may violate U.S. law.
