Trump Criticizes Biden After CBP Officer Shot in NYC by Illegal Immigrant

President Donald Trump publicly criticized former President Joe Biden following the shooting of an off-duty Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in New York City. The officer was allegedly shot in the face by an illegal immigrant who has a substantial criminal history.

On Sunday, Trump took to Truth Social, expressing his outrage. He stated, “Last night, in New York City, an incredible CBP officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden. He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED.”

Details of the Incident

The suspect, identified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, hails from the Dominican Republic. DHS confirmed that Nunez was initially arrested by Border Patrol near San Luis, Arizona, in April 2023. However, he was released into the United States under the Biden administration’s policies.

Nunez has an active warrant related to a kidnapping case in Massachusetts, in addition to a history of felony arrests. NYC Mayor Eric Adams provided further details during a press conference, stating that Nunez had past arrests for assault and violating an order of protection. He emphasized that Nunez also had an active bench warrant from the Bronx, alongside a robbery charge from December and a stabbing incident from January.

Trump’s Response to Increased Crime

Trump continued his critique by blaming the Democratic party for the perceived rise in violent crime linked to illegal immigration. He asserted, “The Democrats have flooded our Nation with Criminal Invaders, and now, they must all be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately prosecuted, as we cannot take a chance that they are able to come back. That’s how evil and dangerous they are!”

The Attempted Robbery

According to authorities, Nunez approached the CBP officer on a motorized scooter, accompanied by another suspect, and attempted to rob him while he was sitting in Riverside Park. In a bid to defend himself, the officer drew his weapon. Both the officer and Nunez sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the encounter.

Authorities stated that Nunez later arrived at a local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the officer’s injuries are not life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Heroism Amidst Danger

Amid the chaos, Trump praised the officer for his bravery, stating that he “bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous skill and courage.” The valor of law enforcement officers often shines brightest in moments of crisis, and this event is no exception.

Legal Consequences Looming

Mayor Adams revealed that Nunez is now in police custody. Adams expressed his intent to pursue serious charges against Nunez, stating, “He has inflicted violence in our city, and once he is charged for last night’s crimes, we will be able to add attempted murder to his rap sheet.” This incident underscores the ongoing concerns regarding public safety and the actions of individuals who violate immigration laws.

Furthermore, DHS has placed a detainer against Nunez, which signifies the federal government’s intention to take additional actions regarding his immigration status.

Amid these developments, the narrative surrounding immigration policies and public safety continues to heat up, especially before the upcoming elections. Discussions about the balance between security and compassion are more critical than ever.

As this story unfolds, the implications for immigration policies and local law enforcement remain a focal point of national discourse, highlighting the urgency of addressing these pressing issues comprehensively.
