Trump EPA Chief Tackles Crisis of Sewage Pollution Affecting San Diego Beaches

Lee Zeldin, the Environmental Protection Agency Administrator under former President Donald Trump, plans to visit the San Diego-Mexico border shortly. His visit aims to address the growing issue of toxic waste and sewage runoff from the Tijuana River, which has led to more than 1,000 beach closures at Imperial Beach. This pollution has also resulted in health problems among Navy SEAL trainees who train in contaminated waters.

Zeldin declared that Mexico must fulfill its obligations to manage pollution and sewage that impacts the United States. He emphasized that the era of tolerating excuses, delays, or exceptions is over.

The administrator expressed a firm commitment from the EPA to enhance cooperation with local authorities in Southern California and Mexico to confront this ongoing crisis head-on.
