President Donald Trump has reached the six-month milestone in his second term as of Sunday, indicating a busy agenda as he advances into his 27th week in office.
In a message posted on social media, Trump reflected on his time in office. He noted that his administration has accomplished significant achievements during this period. He stated, “Wow, time flies! Today is that Sixth Month Anniversary of my Second Term. Importantly, it’s being hailed as one of the most consequential periods of any President. In other words, we got a lot of good and great things done, including ending numerous wars of countries not related to us other than through trade and/or, in certain cases, friendship. Six months is not a long time to have totally revived a major country.”
Trump further asserted, “One year ago our country was DEAD, with almost no hope of revival. Today, the USA is the ‘hottest’ and most respected country anywhere in the world. Happy Anniversary!!!”
Ahead of his highly awaited trip to London in September, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the President will venture to Scotland on Friday. There, he will visit his properties, the Turnberry resort and the Aberdeen golf course.
During his visit, Trump is also scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to make further progress on the U.S.-UK trade agreement. Leavitt highlighted during a Thursday press briefing, “During the visit, President Trump will meet again with Prime Minister Starmer to refine the great trade deal that was brokered between the United States and the United Kingdom.”
Later, she added that Trump and the First Lady will engage in an official state visit to the United Kingdom from September 17 to September 19 this fall. This visit marks a significant milestone, being an unprecedented second state visit for Trump. He looks forward to meeting His Majesty the King at Windsor Castle.
Typically, the UK monarch does not extend an invitation for a second state visit to a U.S. president who has been re-elected, favoring smaller gatherings like tea or lunch. Therefore, Trump’s second state visit carries historical significance.
Scotland is particularly meaningful to Trump, as his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, was born and raised there before relocating to Queens, New York. Trump’s ties to Scotland reflect a deep personal connection, intertwining his family history with his professional endeavors.
The Trump Organization acquired the historic Turnberry golf resort and hotel in 2014, along with the Aberdeen golf club in 2012. The Aberdeen club is set to unveil a new course next month, signaling ongoing investments in the region.
Previously, Trump visited these golf courses in July 2018 during his first term in office. His strong association with the golfing industry underscores his business interests while serving as president.
As Trump prepares for this trip, a 90-day pause on tariffs is nearing its end. Originally announced in April, these tariffs were imposed on various foreign nations. The administration has indicated that countries now face an August 1 deadline to either comply or face increased tariffs. This approach is part of Trump’s broader strategy to renegotiate trade deals to benefit the U.S. economy.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick commented on the gravity of the upcoming weeks, stating that this period will showcase Trump’s commitment to delivering favorable trade agreements for America. “The next two weeks are going to be weeks for the record books. President Trump is going to deliver for the American people,” Lutnick declared during an appearance on CBS’s
